What we're about

Welcome to New Way Photography where a new concept in digital photography Meetups is being explored. Are you new to photography? Just got a new DSLR and are lost in the myriad of settings and controls. Do you want to learn about photography from the ground up or just refresh you knowledge? Have you ever been excited by what you see on your camera's LCD just to discover when you get home that your images are drab & lifeless? Perhaps you want to enhance your capabilities by learning a post-processing program like Lightroom, Photoshop or one of the many plugins or external editors to bring out the best in your photos. If any of this sounds like something you are looking for this is the group for you! In this Meetup we focus on getting results you'll be proud to show with emphasis on education and hands-on experience. We aim to cover everything from beginning to advanced, from Lightroom to Photoshop, from Speedlight to Studio light, and we cover technical topics and provide opportunities to use what you learn. Our approach is to use common sense in learning photography. We also organize many field trips throughout the year with emphasis on a classroom learned skill where you can practice with other members. The organizers who present the workshops attend the field trips to assist members and provide expertise where needed. Some charges may apply at certain Meetups to cover expenses such as model’s fees, rental of studio space, entrance fees to parks, museums, etc. We hold several workshops a month in a community center with lots of free parking in a nice air-conditioned classroom as well as on location throughout the South Florida Area and beyond. Most of all, we're dedicated to helping people learn new skills and enhance the ones they already possess. The best way to see what we're about is to check out future events.

BEGINNER'S PHOTOGRAPHY - EXPOSURE PART 2

Southwest Focal Point

LEVEL: Novice / Beginner FORMAT: Presentation / Discussion BRING: Camera, Beginner's Photography Guide book, note taking materials INFO: This is the beginning workshop, the starting point for this series. We will be discussing the material as presented in the book from page 62 through page 85. Please be sure to familiarize yourselves with this information before the meeting. Exposure is one of the most fundamental aspects of photography, and you'll often hear photographers talking about taking an exposure or getting the exposure right. In essence, exposure is simply the process of letting light through the camera's lens to illuminate (expose) the digital sensor and produce an image. Getting the optimal exposure for your photograph relies on balancing three distinct elements often referred to as the Photographer’s Triangle. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to read and familiarize yourself with Chapter 2 on Exposure from pages 62 thru 85 which is what will be covered in this workshop session. Please be sure to bring your camera, camera manual, note taking paraphernalia and, of course, your Beginner’s Photography Guide. This, as you know, is only our second outing with the new format and content, and even though we will have done our best to review the material and practiced its delivery, mistakes happen. So, please bear with us while we make our best effort to perfect our presentations. Be sure to give us your input as we move forward. This is your group and we want you to get as much from the experience as you can. See you there, Cesar and C. W.
