Here's a chance to join us on a leisurely Sunday hike. The RT distance is only 10 miles and while we climb over Frosty Mountain on the way out, the elevation gain is less than our usual amount. The return trip is even easier. The location is less than an hour from Cumming and there are no gravel roads involved. Overall, if you want to sample backcountry hiking, this is a good place to do it.
We'll be starting at the top of Amicalola Falls and then heading out on the AT Approach trail to the junction with the Hike Inn trail, where we'll turn and go to the Hike Inn. There we'll have lunch and check out a great view on the back courtyard. Homemade snacks are available for a donation if you don't want to bring food. You can also refill your water here, so you need to carry only half as much as you normally would.
Next, we'll return to the Falls on a different, and a bit more scenic, trail. Once we are back, we'll view the highest waterfall in Georgia.
