Attend this volunteer event that is part Christian revival and part feeding the hungry and giving drink to the thirsty. Feed the hungry is a free food program for seniors, singles and low income families throughout the cities of Costa Mesa/Newport Beach. We distribute a variety of items the second Saturday of every month: canned food, produce, bread, milk, juice, clothes, furniture and other things. Be the hands and feet of Christ by participating in this event. NOTE: During COVID-19, Qoheleth, is still operating the second Saturday of every month. I would like to schedule our group to attend on October 10 for food distribution from 9:30 am -12:30 pm. All of it is outside and all are required to wear masks. Here is what they stated in an email I received from them: "Due to the current concerns over COVID-19 and safety protocols, we will be modifying our Feed the Hungry event to increase social distancing and limit the number of people interacting with other. Don't forget your face masks if you have them! Home-made Face mask directions from CDC. As such, we will be holding the event as a "Drive Thru" instead of the normal distribution. We will begin setting up at 7:30A as usual, but there will be no break after that and no guest speaker. We will begin distributing food immediately upon completing set up and taking the food directly to our clients in their cars. Please remember to practice social distancing as much as possible. Don't forget your face masks if you have them! Therefore, if you have signed up for distribution or clean up and still want to volunteer, you will need to arrive no later than 9:00A for distribution and 10:00A for clean up (all times are estimates due to the unpredictable nature of this format/change in plans). Of course, if you want to come earlier and help with set up that would be much appreciated. Please remember to practice social distancing as much as possible. Don't forget your face masks if you have them!" I reserved 10 spots for our group and I hope that several of you will sign up on meetup and attend. We will be distributing food to low-income people who desperately need food during this time.
Attend our Newport Mesa Christian Outreach Council meeting to meet new people, socialize with group members for dinner and attend our meeting to discuss and schedule new outreach events and activities for our dynamic group. Our service events are designed to open the hearts and minds of our members and society at large so that we become acquainted with disadvantaged and vulnerable members of our society. Every Christian has a duty of service and God is honored and we are strengthened when we do our part. .Our group is dedicated to performing service of all types. The meeting will take place in the lobby area of the parish hall area across the street from the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic church.
