Next Generation Democracy Cafe - Learning from the origins of democracy

Details
Dear all,
To better understand today's developments in our democracy and how cutting edge technology influence it - we believe that going back in time to better understand its origins and roots is essential
Therefore we are happy to announce that our next session will provide insights into the main institutions and practices of the ancient greek democracy. We will dive into the ideas, values and principles that characterized democracy in its genesis and consider how these have developed into our modern political system. This session will introduce both traditional and modern political thought in order to reflect on current definitions of democratic concepts such as: citizenship, the rule of law, freedom of speech, deliberative democracy and voting.
To take us through this and lay the foundation for further discussion we will be joined by Stavros Moutsios who is a lecturer at the University of Aarhus and member of the Next Gen Democracy Crowd.
We believe this will be a great opportunity to bring the Next Generation community together for a very exciting topic, whilst also providing a solid knowledge base that could prove very useful for the events we have planned in the new year.
We look forward to seeing you there for this very special event. Go ahead and grab your ticket here now: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/next-generation-democracy-cafe-learning-from-the-origins-of-democracy-tickets-82321755587
