Details
Over the last couple of years, interest in Docker has grown tremendously. Look at the number of newish stack overflow questions about docker, or the proliferation of meetups about it. This is now a baseline prerequisite for those interested in having a career in modern IT operations/development.
In this class you'll learn some basics and we'll take it from there:
- Intro
- What is Docker?
- Compare to VM
- Why use Docker?
- How Docker helps 12-Factor design
- Installation
Not in order... - Terms: Registry vs Repo. Image vs container. Tags.
- How to use existing images from Docker Hub
- Sandboxing/prototyping with a container
- Creating your own Dockerfile and building images
- Push/Pull
- Mounting volumes
- Passing config (e.g. env vars) to a container at runtime
- inspect
- Cleaning up after Docker
As always we'll have lunch as well as Heather Willson's awesome snacks!
