Let's check out one of our Park's most famous glaciers! Join the Northern Rockies Explorers as we start at The Loop, relax at Granite Park Chalet for a minute, hit the Highline Trail and then make the big climb on the spur trail to the overlook.
We'll take in the glacier, the turquoise waters of Upper Grinnell Lake, the mountain majesty surrounding us and contemplate our place in the universe.
This hike is for seasoned hikers in excellent condition. I'm going with a 5:30am meetup time to help ensure we'll find a few open parking spaces at the Loop which are at a premium all summer long.
R/T Distance: 11.6 miles
Elevation Gain: approx 3,700 feet
Bring your bear spray.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch, electrolytes, rain gear and extra layers. We'll take a nice break at the top to celebrate the hard work of getting there.
We'll meet at the park and ride lot on the corner of highways 206 and 2 on the edge of Columbia Falls to arrange a carpool (see map pin). This will be an extreme experience!
