See all- Hike the Cascadilla Creek Trail to the base of Nyack MountainMontana Highway 206 & Highway 2 East, Montana, MT
Join the Northern Rockies Explorers as we hike The Cascadilla Creek Trail which leads to a beautiful open meadow and a stellar view up to the base of an alpine cirque beneath Nyack Mountain.
Per Trailforks: When you exit the forest you can pretty much make it up as you go and following my route is unnecessary. Go high, go low, it's up to you, create your own path or follow those who came before.
I know we've done this one a couple of times fairly recently but not in summer. You'll love it.
Trail Length: 6.0 miles approx round trip
Elevation Gain: 1,100 feet approx.Bring multiple layers, snacks, plenty of water/electrolytes and rain gear. Bring trekking poles if you like to use them.
We'll meet at the park and ride lot at Route 206 and Route 2 and arrange a carpool.
To the trailhead: Take Hwy 2 east and when you cross the bridge going over the RR tracks, 50 yards before mile marker 168, look for the parking pullout on your right side. Walk to the west end of the pullout and take the old logging road into the woods. You will cross Crystal Creek and eventually you will see power lines running down the road. Continue west until you come across a hard-left turn into the forest and take that trail. (You might see a wooden sign on your left that states Cascadilla Creek Trail No. 498, not sure if it's still there).
