What we're about

Looking to get together with fellow casual board game fans in the Northwest side of the city and share in some board game fun from time to time. I have a pretty wide range of game types that I enjoy and I really like teaching/walking others on how to play games that I own as well as learning new ones. All skill levels/experience with board games are welcome.

I can envision rotating locations within these 8-ish neighborhoods: Edison Park, Norwood Park, Dunning Square, Montclare, Belmont Cragin, Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Forest Glen and have some locations (that offer light food/drink) already in mind. I’d envision that this group would all share in bringing games, but at a minimum, I’d commit to bringing some crowd-favorites from my modest, but growing, library:

Looking forward to sharing in some board game fun with others!

Northwest Side Chicago Board Gaming - Virtual Event

Online event

Hi All,
Hope everyone got to enjoy the beautiful weekend weather; I myself got to play some board games out in the backyard. It was quite an adventure with the breeze though, but Azul never disappoints.

Thanks to those of you who joined our April event; it was so much fun! Let's do it again next Thursday, May 13th. I can almost see a time where we'll all be able to gather in person, but we'll keep it virtual for now.

As usual, we'll kick things off at 6pm, but I'll be online and connected at 5:30pm or so to help anyone with setup.

Discord continues to work really well for organization, communication and the occasional screen share, so we'll continue to leverage that same server. Here's the discord server link if you need it: https://discord.gg/TDugN4m

We'll use both BoardGameArena.com and Tabletopia.com for the games themselves. My handles on the platforms are as follows:
BGA: JAMIT42
Tabletopia: JAMIT42

I've also gotten some requests to preemptively announce which games we'll be playing. One of the benefits of the virtual nature of the event is that we are generally only limited to the games on the platforms that we'll use (see below).

To give everyone a sense of what's been most popular thus far, here are those games that have been played:
Break out tables created for: Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Stone Age, Kingdomino, Potion Explosion, Dice Forge, 7Wonders, Takenoko, and Roll For the Galaxy, Draftasaurus, Celestia for break out tables
Other filler tables for: Saboteur, 6Nimmit, For Sale, Go Sushi
Again, not limited to these by any means, these have just been the more popular ones.

I encourage folks to check out the platforms and preemptively suggest some games they'd like to play or learn. That will give others a chance to familiarize themselves with the game ahead of time. I'll post such suggestions/lists on the discord server.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or assistance with setup.

Looking forward to virtually seeing some of you then!

Be safe,
Jose
