About us

Looking to get together with fellow casual board game fans in the Northwest side of the city and share in some board game fun from time to time. I have a pretty wide range of game types that I enjoy and I really like teaching/walking others on how to play games that I own as well as learning new ones. All skill levels/experience with board games are welcome.

I can envision rotating locations within these 8-ish neighborhoods: Edison Park, Norwood Park, Dunning Square, Montclare, Belmont Cragin, Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Forest Glen and have some locations (that offer light food/drink) already in mind. I’d envision that this group would all share in bringing games, but at a minimum, I’d commit to bringing some crowd-favorites from my modest, but growing, library:

It has been neat building out such a great and friendly community of fellow board game fans here on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Yesenia and I (Jose) are so tickled to be now able to host regularly scheduled game night events here at our very own venue: Stay and Play Game Cafe.

D&D at Stay and Play - July Adjusted from 4th to 5th Wednesday of Month

New to D&D or just need a refresher? No problem!
Want to continue from or jump into a previously-launched campaign? No problem!

Join one of Stay and Play Game Cafe's resident Dungeon Masters and up to 6 others for a fun adventure.

For the best experience, 3 adventurers at minimum are needed and no more than 7 in total. The time window will allow for more than enough time for intros, campaign, and breaks in between. All the while, order and enjoy some food and drinks while you play.

So grab your dice (or borrow a set from us), and get ready to roll initiative.

Note: RSVPs are required and keeping your RSVP updated is important. That allows us to properly allocate our DMs as well as manage folks that are on the waitlist.

Note2: Given that we've had a large uptick in "no-shows" we will be reaching out (via direct message) to first timers to confirm their participation. If we don't hear back, we will be move them to either "waitlist" or "not-going" as appropriate so as to allow those on the waitlist a chance to get in. I hope everyone can appreciate the need for us to do so. If you have questions, please let me know.

Haven't been to trivia night here at Stay and Play Game Cafe yet? Here's what you can generally expect:
Trivia here consists of 5 rounds of questions. Each round will have questions from the same categories (1 of the categories is focused on board games, the others are general knowledge).

Trivia will begin promptly at 7pm, so be sure to arrive with your crew no later than 6:45 and check in with the host or your server. We are looking for a maximum of 7 teams (first-come, first-served) and the team sizes can range from 2 to 6 people.

Looking for a team? No problem, swing on by and we'll help you join one.

Purchasing our standard Game Pass (just 5 when you order 10 of food/drink off our menu) covers your cost to participate in trivia.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!

Karaoke Night at Stay & Play Game Cafe!

Join us on Friday, July 31st at 7:30pm for some delicious Puerto Rican Food, refreshing cocktails/mocktails/beers, fun board games, and karaoke goodness.

We like to "gamify" everything here and plan on having karaoke-bingo-cards on hand to add even more fun to the evening. Purchase a Stay & Play Game Pass and have a chance to win prizes!
