Skill Sharing Workshops and Happy Hour with AJ+

Due to space constraints, we cap the workshop attendance to 25. Please only RSVP if you are certain you will be able to attend the workshops. There is no need to RSVP for the happy hour. The happy hour at 6:00 PM is open to anyone, including those who could not attend the workshop. Thank you!

Please join us for a special afternoon at AJ+'s headquarters for a studio tour and two skill sharing workshops. The event will be hosted and introduced by ONA Local leader Cynthia X. Hua.

5:20 pm: Breakout Workshops

• User engagement and community management for news media, led by Jess Ramirez, Engagement Producer and hosted by Tom Trewinnard, ONA Local.

• How to produce news videos for social media, led by Mashaal Mir, Producer and hosted by Cynthia X. Hua, ONA Local.

6:00 pm: Happy hour at Momo’s (760 2nd St, San Francisco, CA 94107). Happy hour is open to anyone in the ONA community, including those who cannot attend the workshop.

Cynthia X. Hua is a researcher of online media ecosystems. She currently works on video at Facebook, and previously held positions at Buzzfeed and Hulu @cynthiaxhua

AJ+ is Al Jazeera's digital-only offshoot, launched in September 2014 to build a new kind of media outlet for people who don't watch traditional news networks on TV. AJ+ became one of the biggest video publishers on Facebook by creating custom videos optimized for the emerging video platform.
