DRCOG Phase 2 Kickoff (Denver Import Pilot Mapathon)
Details
We are launching the Denver metro buildings import with a mapathon at Woods Boss Brewing. All are welcome, but the workflow for the import requires some familiarity with the JOSM editor. There are plenty of resources to get you started beforehand; such as http://LearnOSM.org
For the import itself, you will want to familiarize yourself with:
- The wiki-page about the import: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Denver_Planimetrics_Import
- Especially helpful is to read through the Workflow document: https://github.com/geochasm/DRCOG_Buildings - this is still a bit of work in progress, so we'll go through it once or twice together at the beginning of the mapathon.
Most important! Community practice (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/Guidelines) is to use an OSM account designated for imports; this also helps us track progress, users, etc. as well as make sure you have access to the projects. Follow the instructions in the workflow above. Doing so ahead of time will help us get going quicker with the walk-through.
If you come late, no worries, we'll all be helping each other in this first mapathon anyway so better explanations might evolve as it gets later.
Don't forget to bring: Laptop with working and updated JOSM editor and a mouse is highly recommended.
