What we're about

One Dharma Nashville is an Insight Buddhist meditation group with an integrative approach. We were founded in 2006 by meditation teacher Lisa Ernst, who wished to offer a contemporary Buddhist sangha that also maintains its roots in traditional teachings and practices. One Dharma is at the forefront of Western Buddhism, where we have access to all of the great dharma traditions that were once segregated by geography in the East. Our practice is not wedded to the cultural forms of Buddhism, but instead emphasizes the foundational approaches that free the mind from suffering and awaken the heart to compassion. Our foundation is built on the practices of lovingkindness, compassion and mindfulness; we believe that these practices help us realize true freedom in our own lives.

An Evening with InsightLA's Thomas Davis

Online event

We’re excited to host InsightLA’s Thomas Davis who will share his dharma wisdom and guide us through a post election evening that combines contemplative exploration and authentic expression. Thomas Davis IV is a Mindfulness and Life Teacher who has devoted over 25 years of study, practice and service within progressive spiritual communities including: Buddhist, Christian and essential community-based institutions in Northern and Southern California. As a result, there is a natural fluidity that Thomas possesses to find commonality and connection across the spectrum of Diverse People that make up our present-day Society. Thomas understands the unique challenges of finding, trusting and expressing one’s Authentic Voice, Imagination and Ideas and that it can be daunting, elusive and obscure for many people. Avant-Dharma is intended to support people through many aspects of these living processes so that we may show up equipped and prepared to offer our Best to our Communities. Thomas is a native of Oakland, California. He currently resides in Los Angeles and is a Teacher with the InsightLA Meditation Center, Guiding Teacher of the InsightLA POC Sangha and InsightinSchools. Thomas has also served non-profit organizations and entertainment industry clients with his teachings. He is a graduate of Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader program.
