Intel Innovator Cristina Dominicini (https://www.linkedin.com/in/cristina-klippel-dominicini-06110729/) will join us to discuss "NFV Orchestration over a Fully Programmable SDN Infrastructure for Small Data Centers." Cristina is assistant professor at Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES, Brazil) and PhD student in computer science at Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES, Brazil).

Ilango Ganga (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ilangog/) is a Principal Engineer in Network Platforms Group Architecture team at Intel. Illango will take us through a day in the life of a packet through a typical NFV platform, from the physical infrastructure through to the heart of the application. Three pillars that underlay NFV will be discussed: Packet Processing; Security; and Service Assurance – each of these will require platform transformation. The tradeoffs involved in balancing the needs of performance and flexibility will also be highlighted; a key part will be the interfaces between the VNF and NFVI.

Mike Stolarchuk (https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-stolarchuk-53b24874/), MTS at Big Switch Networks, will be talking about “BigSwitch’s BMF and DPDK.” Big Monitoring Fabric (BMF) is Big Switch’s network packet broker (NPB), forwarding frames from a collection of sources to a collection of destinations over a switch topology. The BMF architecture includes service nodes, which are X86 DPDK servers. The short talk presents the architecture, implementation and performance challenges of the integrated DPDK services.
