What we're about

Women Who Walk is a monthly 4-8 mile walkabout in and around Portland, Oregon. Each walk is carefully planned (complete with blog post, map, and photo gallery) to showcase a neighborhood, park, garden, or other uniquely wonderful aspects of this great city of ours.

Led by Susan Bradley, intrepid daily walker and community engagement maven for the SkyBlue Portland Real Estate Group.

Walking Historic Aurora: Holiday Hoopla

Old Aurora Colony Museum

DESCRIPTION: In true holiday spirit, this walk will meander Historic Aurora with it's wide array of vintage shops, historic buildings, and early residences. Christmas Capitol of Portland Metro. This compact city core knows how to celebrate the holidays. Wear tinsel and/or other festive garb! :-)

NOTE: This is a Walk & Gawk (Support Local!) event. We’ll walk about two miles total, spot historic homes, break for coffee midway at White Rabbit Bakery, visit a park, and then saunter back into town to hit the shops alone or in small groups of 2-3. If you want to extend the day (as several folks did at our earlier walk here), grab a walk friend and head over to nearby Filberts Farmhouse Kitchen for lunch. Great setting. Great food. Highly recommend.

DRIVE DISTANCE: 20 miles from Portland to Aurora on I-5 S. 13 miles from Oregon City to Aurora on 99E.

P.S. Check the Aurora Colony website for their November/December holiday events: http://auroracolony.com.

DISTANCE: 1.5 miles, plus meandering/ogling historical sites and vintage shops.

FITNESS LEVEL: Expect an easy 2-mile-an-hour (30-minute mile) pace for this flat sidewalk trek. Additionally, historic buildings often have uneven floors and steep staircases. Please exercise caution while touring.
