Painting Workshop: Texture & Contrast

This 7-hour workshop focuses on the development of varied textures within the painting surface and in creating contrast (darks and lights) to enahance texture. We will explore different thicknesses of paint, modeling paste and collage of varied materials, both organic and inorganic. Through these techniques, we discover how the painting becomes a sculptural object in which we can imbed other objects meaningful to us.

**Required Materials:

• two 16" x 24" canvases
• Charcoal, rags, and items for creating texture and collage (colored papers, scraps, phone bills, love notes, leaves, grasses, sand, etc.)
• All other painting materials provided (brushes, paints, etc.)
