Pebble Hardware Edition: Strap Yourself in for the Smartstrap SDK!

Hey Pebblers! Join us on Thursday, September 10th at Atlassian in SF for a special hardware focused meetup about Pebble smartstraps. We're sorry we missed you in August. We were behind the scenes getting prepared for something extra special: the smartstrap SDK!

The smartstrap SDK is here! With the SDK and firmware released this week, developers can now read how to hack on all the software and hardware required to create their very own accessories for Pebble. There are loads of possibilities including buttons, sensors, LEDs, and battery smartstraps that further extend Pebble’s battery life. The smartstrap API is designed to be as flexible as possible, so the only limit may be your imagination!

Pebble's own Brian Gomberg will be doing a presentation about Pebble's smartstrap SDK and what it takes to build a smartstrap. He'll also go over a demo that walks you through the physical build process and respective code on the watch.

Four new guides detail the Pebble C API (https://developer.getpebble.com/guides/hardware/talking-to-smartstraps?mc_cid=8a3b6db773&mc_eid=[UNIQID]), electrical characteristics (https://developer.getpebble.com/guides/hardware/smartstrap-hardware?mc_cid=8a3b6db773&mc_eid=[UNIQID]), a sample Arduino reference implementation (https://github.com/pebble/arduinopebbleserial?mc_cid=8a3b6db773&mc_eid=[UNIQID]), and two new example apps (https://github.com/pebble-examples?mc_cid=8a3b6db773&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) are available to help eager hardware developers and hobbyists get started. Finished projects are highly encouraged on Hackster.io (https://www.hackster.io/pebble?mc_cid=8a3b6db773&mc_eid=[UNIQID]), where we love seeing what the community of hardware hackers come up with.
