Photographic Art Club Pages

This meetup group is a gathering place for photographers and people who want to improve the quality of their photography. If you are taking snapshots, you can move up by taking the nine week class called "From Snapshots to Art." In it you will progress through a series of classes that build your skills. It goes from Composition, Image Design, Improving Your Eye, How to Shoot in Manual Mode, Photoshop Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop CS6 / Elements 11, Image Processing, Landscape, Black & White, Portraits, Printing, Matting, Framing, and Displaying Your Art. My objective is to get you through the technical side of photography so you can really start having fun taking great pictures.

For those who want more, there are a series of workshops designed to take your photography skills even further: Landscape, Panoramic, High Dynamic Range (HDR), HDR Pans, Macro, Extended Depth of Field, Photoshop Tools, Still Life, Products, Food, Studio Portraits, Beach Photo Shoots, Photo Album Design, Painterly Photography, etc. This is an ever expanding list as our members make requests. There is a Poll on this site for you to select the workshops that interest you the most. Take the poll to let me know what to schedule.

We arrange Photo Trips to get you out into the field taking pictures under supervision so mistakes can be caught and corrected. Trips include; Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Big Sur, High Sierra Wildflowers, Desert Flower Workshop in Anza-Borrego Joshua Tree and Death Valley, Fall Color Workshops in the Eastern Sierra, Zion & Bryce, Yosemite Valley in Spring & Winter, Anacapa Island and more. We are always adding new and fun events.

Each month we have our Photo Club meeting. There is a monthly photo assignment and trips to shoot the assignment. You can upload images to the web site to be judged by a panel of judges trained in the Professional Photographers of America judging technique. Then there is an open discussion on the images. We have presentations and demonstrations by our members and guests. In essence, this is a learning environment where we all share what we know so we can all improve.

Come to one of our Photo Club meetings the last Tuesday of the month, and check us out. You just might come back for more. We hope you do. I ask you to go to the Photo Club Monthly Meetup and click RSVP if you are planning to come. Before you know it, you will have gained several friends and started your photography improvement.

To learn more, go to MORE > FILES and look for the PAC Quick Reference Guide. It will help you get up to speed quickly.
