What we're about

We have a monthly potluck to share a meal where every dish promotes our own health, and the health of the planet. For optimum health, our potlucks feature nutrient dense plant-based whole foods: beans and lentils, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. We also encourage dishes to be SOS-free, (no added salt, oil, or sugar). A whole-food plant-based diet is also a low-carbon diet, and choosing to eat this way is one of the most effective actions an individual can take to lower their carbon footprint.

We discuss the details of the food we brought to the potluck, share recipes, and go around the room each time to share our personal stories, discoveries, and challenges. It is such a pleasure to gather with other like-minded people for a meal where every dish is truly health-promoting, everyone is cheering you on towards your health goals, and where we can learn and share about the connections between food and climate change.

We occasionally have food demonstrations or hands-on experiences with kitchen tools, and like to share ways to make food prep easier and more efficient.

PlantPure Kitchen Live with Kim Campbell

Online event

This is a FREE weekly online event, live streaming on YouTube. Sign up for live cooking lessons every Thursday with PlantPure Chef Kim Campbell: https://www.plantpurenation.com/pages/join-our-plantpure-kitchen Once you sign up, you will receive a recipe and shopping list each Friday, and then you can cook along with Kim the following Thursday. You will also receive an email reminder each Thursday, with a button to click to take you to the PlantPure TV YouTube channel for the live show. You can type questions for Kim into the chat box, or send private messages to other participants during the show. I usually watch the show, and then do the cooking. I have participated most weeks since this show started, and have learned so much! My favorite recipes so far include Pad Thai, Vegetable Paella, Soba Noodles with Steamed Veggies and Tahini Coconut Ginger Sauce, Enchiladas with Mole Sauce, and a salad featuring soy curls. The show is usually around 30 minutes long. You can watch some past episodes on the PlantPure TV channel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeckeH_lF6uh8i37YK7P46g

Monthly Online Dinner and Conversation about Food

Online event

Join us for our online dinner and conversation about food. The Zoom link to the event will be visible to those who RSVP. We'll follow our online version of what happens at our usual in-person monthly potlucks. Devra has set up the Zoom meeting for us, so we now have 2 hours. Normally, we would gather around the buffet table, and each person would describe what they brought to the potluck. In the online version, each person will do a short show & tell about what they're having for dinner. Hold up your bowl or plate to the camera so we can see! After this, we will go around again, so that each person can take a few minutes to share anything that's on their mind about food. This is an opportunity for the person speaking to share from the heart, and for the others to listen deeply to what is being said. You are welcome to prepare one of your favorite plant-based dishes, ideally nutrient-dense whole foods with no added salt, oil or sugar. Or if you don't feel like cooking, that's fine too! Looking forward to seeing you online! If you are not able to attend, please change your RSVP as soon as possible.
