What we’re about
IN PERSON EVENTS have begun, check them out! We will continue to have a monthly meeting online for conversation and support.
If you live in the Portland area, please join us at our potlucks to share a meal where every dish promotes our own health, and the health of the planet. For optimum health, our potlucks feature nutrient dense plant-based whole foods: beans and lentils, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. We also encourage dishes to be SOS-free, (no added salt, oil, or sugar). A whole-food plant-based diet is also a low-carbon diet, and choosing to eat this way is one of the most effective actions an individual can take to lower their carbon footprint.
We discuss the details of the food we brought to the potluck, share recipes, and go around the room each time to share our personal stories, discoveries, and challenges. It is such a pleasure to gather with other like-minded people for a meal where every dish is truly health-promoting, everyone is cheering you on towards your health goals, and where we can learn and share about the connections between food and climate change.
We occasionally have food demonstrations or hands-on experiences with kitchen tools, and like to share ways to make food prep easier and more efficient.

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- WFPB 4th of July Potluck PicnicThe home of Linda Hendrickson and John Brockway, Portland, OR
Join us for a 4th of July picnic, hosted by Linda Hendrickson and her husband John Brockway. We'll gather on the deck in our back yard, and will share some of the foods that are 4th of July classics at our house -- Soy Curls Salad, Super Slaw, and watermelon (photo above by Floh Keitgen).
Please bring one of your favorite July 4th dishes to share made from nutrient dense plant-based whole foods. These include beans and lentils, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. We also ask that dishes be SOS-free, (no added salt, oil, or sugar).
In addition, bring your own reusable plate and eating utensils to make clean-up easier, and, to help those who have food allergies or intolerances, please bring a copy of your recipe, or a card that lists all ingredients.

https://www.straightupfood.com/blogIf the thought of cooking or preparing food for a potluck seems too challenging, you can bring something like fresh fruit or unsalted raw nuts. Or just bring yourself -- we look forward to seeing you!
We're in the yellow house with lots of native plants at 140 SE Cesar Chavez Blvd. between SE Ankeny and SE Ash. Please park on one of the side streets.
