Details

H2O.ai, the leading company bringing AI to enterprises, today announced it has been named by Gartner, Inc., the leading research and advisory firm, as a Leader in the 2018 Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms.

Event description:

1st talk/Introduction to Scalable and Automatic Machine Learning with H2O (Michal Raška – Software Engineer, H2O.ai)

Abstract: In this talk Michal will give an overview of our company - H2O.ai and our open-source machine learning platform - H2O. This introductory talk is useful for attendees who are not familiar with H2O. H2O is an open-source, distributed and scalable machine learning platform written in Java with APIs in Python, R, Scala and a REST/JSON API. Our mission is to democratize AI and to make machine learning accessible to everyone.

This talk will include two live demos. The first is aimed to show basic concepts of H2O using Python client and our GUI - Flow. The second will introduce AutoML, H2O’s automatic machine learning interface.

Bio: Michal completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, and his Master’s Degree in Software Systems at Charles University in Prague, Czechia. At H2O.ai Michal works on the build and test infrastructure and also as the software engineer on the H2O-3.

2nd talk/Sparkling Water 2.3: The Next Generation of Machine Learning on Apache Spark (Jakub Háva – Senior Software Engineer, H2O.ai)

Abstract: Sparkling Water integrates the H2O open source distributed machine learning platform with the capabilities of Apache Spark. It allows users to leverage H2O's machine learning algorithms with Apache Spark applications via Scala, Python, R or H2O’s Flow GUI which makes Sparkling Water a great enterprise solution. Sparkling Water 2.3 was built to coincide with the release of Apache Spark 2.3 and introduces several new features. The talk will also include a live demo showing how to integrate H2O algorithms into Apache Spark pipelines.

Bio: Jakub (or “Kuba” as we call him) completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Master’s Degree in Software Systems at Charles University in Prague. As a bachelor’s thesis, Kuba wrote a small platform for distributed computing of any types of tasks. During his master’s degree studies, he developed a cluster monitoring tool for JVM based languages which makes debugging and reasoning the performance of distributed systems easier using a concept called distributed stack traces. Kuba enjoys dealing with problems and learning new programming languages. At H2O.ai, Kuba is a core developer behind Sparkling Water project.
