The focus for this session will be on neural networks. Our lead speaker for the evening will be Ryan Arredondo (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanarr/), who currently is a professor of mathematics at CU-Denver and also does Python-based consulting on the side.

Session Description From Ryan:

An artificial neural network is a computational approach that is inspired by how the human brain processes information. Neural networks have been extensively used with high success to solve a wide variety of tasks, such as those in computer vision and speech recognition.

In this talk I will discuss some of the important terminology, concepts and algorithms that go along with neural networks. I will start with a very simple example of a neural network and build up to more complex neural networks with better problem solving capabilities. I will show some working examples of neural networks with the core algorithms implemented in Python. If time permits, I will discuss topics related to deep learning.
