PyDataMCR is a strictly professional event, as such professional behaviour is expected.
We welcome everyone with an interest in all things data, from beginners to seasoned pros, whether you work in journalism, eCommerce, physics, or anything in between. We're big fans of open source. Python, R, and Julia are staples, but Java and JavaScript are welcome too

Dr Stephanie Hyland - Can randomness in stochastic gradient descent provide privacy? - Microsoft Research Cambridge - @_hylandSL
Dr Stephanie Hyland is a Senior Researcher in the Healthcare Intelligence team at Microsoft Research Cambridge. She received her PhD in Computational Biology and Medicine from the Tri-Institutional Training Program of Cornell University, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre. Her research focuses on time-series modelling on electronic health record data, as well as the challenges of building real-world machine learning systems for healthcare, including privacy-preserving machine learning.

Dr Reka Solymosi is a Lecturer in Quantitative Methods at the Department of Criminology at University of Manchester. She is a member of the Software Sustainability Institute and an Honorary Lecturer at University College London. Her research focuses on making use of new forms of data to gain insight into people's behaviour and subjective experiences, particularly focusing on crime, victimisation, transport, and spatial research. She is also dedicated to promoting data literacy in social science study and practice.
