PyData MCR is the Manchester chapter of the International PyData Community.
For Manchester based data people, to share and learn new things. All open data tooling welcome, we are not python focused.
PyData is dedicated to providing a harassment-free meeting experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of meeting participants in any form.

THE TALKS
How to handle homelab paranoia with Arroyo - Dominic Duxbury (he/him)
Using modern cybersecurity principles from alerts to actions, this talk focuses on processing home network traffic with a purpose built python API and Arroyo, a rust based stream processing package with sprinkles of Python UDFs.
Dom is a Data Consultant and ex-AI researcher with experience working on real-time decision support systems and state of the art ML techniques.
He has delivered software for pathogen characterisation, algorithms for
drones, public sector data migrations and petabyte-scale data audits.
He is currently working as a data architect at the Department for Health and Social Care.Is Python's dependence on C being corroded? - Sean Borg (he/him)
An exploration in Python dependencies and what is powering some of the most popular high performance libraries
Sean is an experienced software developer who co-organises the local Rust Manchester group.
LOCATION
We'll be at Krakenflex, who are also kindly supplying catering. The capacity is limited to 90.After the talks we'll all head somewhere local for some post-event socialising.
