TALK:

TITLE: Visualizing Geographical Data using Folium

SPEAKER: Nicholas Yeow (Redmart)

SYNOPSIS:
Folium is a python wrapper around leaflet.js, a Javascript map visualisation library. Folium brings the capability of leaflet.js to Python, to create interactive and web-friendly maps in Python, while using all the tools and capabilities of Python for Data Processing. In this talk, we will go through how we have used Folium to visualize and improve on our Vehicle Routing Problem Solver at Redmart, and how we can use Folium as a map plotting tool in python.

BIO:

Nicholas is a Software Engineer in the Transport Intelligence and Routing Team at Redmart. Together with his team, he helps to build and maintain the automated routing systems and underlying services that schedules and plans for the thousands of deliveries daily at Redmart. Prior to joining the Transport Intelligence and Routing Team, Nicholas was in the Location Intelligence team where he built interactive maps for staff from Operations to create delivery restrictions.

Bio:
Dev Nadgir is an APAC AI Tech Lead at Microsoft. He is leading the Data + AI architecture teams focused on enterprise customers in Microsoft Azure for APAC. He is an author and an innovator with 13 patents to his credit specializing in programming models, distributed architectures and machine learning. Dev has diverse experiences in incubation, product development, architectures and large-scale implementations across many customers.

2. Poornima Venkataraman - Facebook

Bio:
Poornima is a Data Analyst at Facebook tackling challenges in the integrity and operations space. Previously, she has experience growing Small Medium Businesses in emerging markets for Facebook and product analytics for a high growth gaming startup in Silicon Valley. She graduated with a Bachelors in Business Analytics from National University of Singapore (NUS) along with an entrepreneurship specialization under the NUS Overseas College Program.

Bio:
Sophie been working for 20 years in the financial industry especially in risk modelling (market, credit, financial crime). She holds a master of Eng in Applied Maths and Computer Science (major in Quant Finance) and a master of science in Distributed Information Systems both from France. She relocated to SG 6 years ago and joined Traveloka 6 month ago to lead FinTech and InsurTech Data Team
