Hello and welcome to PyLadies!
PyLadies Vancouver is a Python programming group for women in the Vancouver area. We welcome people who have never programmed before, experienced programmers, and everyone in between.
At PyLadies we welcome all women, inclusive of trans women. Further we would like to extend a special invitation to nonbinary folks, as many (but not all) of the oppressions facing women in our industry are also experienced by nonbinary individuals. Persons with any gender identity are welcome to attend our meetups, but should respect that PyLadies Vancouver is a place where women's voices are centered.

PyLadies is an international mentorship group with a focus on helping more women become active participants and leaders in the Python open-source community. Our mission is to promote, educate and advance a diverse Python community through outreach, education, conferences, events and social gatherings.
PyLadies Vancouver reside and share knowledge on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh Nations. We encourage participation from members from Indigenous communities across Canada.

Momoko Ueda
Momoko Ueda, PhD is the Founding Data Scientist at Taskmole, where she uses Python, machine learning and large language models to discover and automate repetitive workflows. She holds a PhD in Criminology with a focus on forensic science, and previously worked at a startup focused on threat and misinformation detection on social media. She’s also the Co-founder of HirePhD Career Society, a nonprofit that built a global community of 6,000+ PhDs to support their transition into industry.Shannon Lo
Shannon is a data professional who has worked in various industries including telecom, retail, and public health. Her current work involves topic-specific analyses on the Canadian Coroner and Medical Examiner Database. When she's not geeking out about data, you can usually find her hiking, climbing, or camping.Kathryn Morrison
Kathryn Morrison is a statistician and the founder of Precision Analytics, a boutique firm specializing in health data science. She has over a decade of experience applying statistical methods in industry, such as health technology assessment and real-world evidence projects. Kathryn works primarily in R, developing custom analytics pipelines, statistical models, and reproducible workflows for clients ranging from pharmaceutical companies to research institutes. She also serves on committees for the Statistical Society of Canada and co-organizes the R-Ladies Montreal chapter.More to come!
