We are the first Irish group of the international PyLadies (http://www.pyladies.com/). Our focus is to help more women become active participants and leaders in the Python open-source community. Our mission is to promote, educate and advance a diverse Python community. PyLadies Dublin also aims to provide a friendly support network for women and a bridge to the larger Python world. Anyone with an interest in Python is encouraged to participate!

PyLadies Dublin: Introduction to MicroPython (Part 1 of 2)

This month our meetup will be part 1 of two-part workshops on Introduction to MicroPython with Max Vizard, this workshop is FREE. (Tue May 16th workshop) * Part 1 covers installing drivers on your laptop and getting connected to the controller, some general Python basics and interacting with simple devices like LEDs and buttons. (Length of Part 1: 1.5 - 2 hrs) Running Order (*Subject to change) 18:00 REGISTRATION 18:30 Welcome & Introduction 18:35 Setup 19:05 Workshop 19:35 BREAK 20:00 Workshop 21:00 EVENT ENDS (Tue June 18th workshop) * Part 2 covers interacting with slightly more complex devices such as the provided screen and temperature sensors, and also using the WiFi capabilities of the provided microcontroller to send and receive data. ============================================ These workshops is intended to be accessible for beginner programmers and those unfamiliar with Python itself. Attendees need to bring a laptop and a MicroUSB cable, all other hardware will be provided. ============================================ About Max Vizard: -------------------------- Originally from Cork, Max studied Computer Game Development at the University of Limerick before moving to Dublin to pursue a career in Software Development. He has worked with Python in the industry since graduating in 2013. He currently works on web applications and operational automation at Demonware.
