PLANNED DISRUPTION GOES ON SALE FRIDAY, APRIL 24TH AT NOON!
New York, NY. Some call it the "Home of the Royals". Those people are probably confused and thinking of Kansas City. While we may not have the baseball team we do have another set of royals. Sure, you're thinking: "I love Jay-Z and Beyoncé!" No, we're talking about Kings County Brooklyn and Queens.
It's the age old American Question™: Which is better? Sure, historically people have assumed that kings had more power, but people also thought that Capri Sun was a good idea. True fact: Capri Sun is Latin for "Nectar of Kings".
On Wednesday, May 6th at 7pm another important battle will be happening at The Raven's Head Pub in Astoria: BrooklynJS is taking over QueensJS. The jokes will be more obscure, the music more live and the intro will be twice as long as normal. Show your support for your favorite team by wearing your favorite Queen band t-shirt or Kings of Leon fanny pack.
As always, Raven’s Head Pub is in Astoria on 38th & Broadway, just around the corner from the Steinway MR stop and 7 short streets over from the Broadway NQ stop. That's so Raven's Head!
Your speakers for the evening include:
• Felicia O'Garro (@feliciaogarro) is busy "Replacing jQuery with Pure JavaScript"
• Scott Norvell (@ScottLNorvell) warning you to "Test Your JavaScript ... Before It Tests You"
• Todd Kennedy (@whale_eat_squid) reassuring you that "Interviewing Doesn't Have to Suck (Seriously!)"
QueensJS expects all speakers and attendees to follow the JSConf code of conduct (http://jsconf.com/codeofconduct.html).
RSVPs, due to limited seating, will cost $5. All proceeds go towards charities that work to increase code literacy among NYC youth. There are no refunds, but you are more than welcome to transfer tickets.
If you would like to sponsor or speak at one of our events, please email us at organizers at queensjs dot com!
