China's Domestic Crisis and Its US Impact

70-35 Austin St

QL PHYSICALLY meets on the second Saturday of each month at 11:30 am. Join us for Libertarian News, Views, Discussion and Advocacy from Queens County! Join or renew membership at http://www.queenslibertarians.org/

NOTE: We are trying out more convenient locations in Queens (at facilities with outdoor dining) due to a desire to accommodate members who decline using a COVID passport. Join us on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at OBA Mediterranean Grill (corner of Austin St and 70th Rd) in Forest Hills, New York to discuss "China's Domestic Crisis and Its US Impact." Former NYU Professor Robert Luster returns to conduct part two of his talk on China, this time focusing on the country's internal circumstances following the Color Revolution of 1948. The economic, infrastructure, trade and currency status of the nation will be reviewed.

China's current domestic woes reveal the country is in deep crisis. Most are aware of the Evergrande real estate overbuilding disaster. The recent campaign calling for judicious use of food came after southern China witnessed mass flooding, wrecking farmers and ruining tons of farm produce. Are these and other problems leading to critical instability? Does this factor contribute to its efforts to influence many US officials, to become de-facto CCP allies or operatives? How do recent elections, and the economic circumstances of both countries factor into their current relations? Luster will speak 45 minutes, followed by discussion.

While we will pass the hat, there is no mandatory donation. However, all attendees must purchase $10.00 or more in food and drink over the two hour period (don't forget to tip!). There is street parking and the place is centrally located (near the E/F subway at Queens Blvd). You can travel there by taking the E/F or LIRR to the Forest Hills station (Q60 and Q23 buses are also nearby). Walk over to the address at Austin and 70th Rd, meet us in the canopied outdoor area.
