Details
QL PHYSICALLY meets on the second Saturday of each month in Whitestone* at 11:30 am. Join us for Libertarian News, Views, Discussion and Advocacy from Queens County! Renew membership at http://www.queenslibertarians.org/
*URGENT UPDATE---Due to COVID issues, the meeting location has been changed for Saturday. QL will meet at the home of founding member Michelle Yaskel in South Ozone Park (details below). Queens Libertarians will host an open discussion of issues related to the recent mass influx of migrants to the US border (such as at Del Rio, TX) on Saturday, October 9 at 11:30 am. The topic is "A Libertarian Solution To Illegal Immigration," based on a proposal described in chapter 20 of Mark Glogowski's book, The Political Primer: Fundamentals of Politics (Mark is a former Chair of the NYS Libertarian Party). A summary of the proposal can be found at http://www.queenslibertarians.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/A-Libertarian-Solution-to-Illegal-Immigration-Oct-4-2021.pdf
Discussion will be carried by our local "bullpen" of commentators like Alton Yee, professors Schoenberg and Luster, meetup host John Clifton and others. Among the questions explored are, do libertarian principles fully address the current situation? Does an open borders, or protected borders approach reflect the right solution? Is current Washington, DC capable of dealing with the issue? And more.
================
While we will pass the hat, there is no mandatory donation. However, when we meet at a restaurant, all attendees must purchase $10.00 or more in food and drink over the two hour period (don't forget to tip!). There is street parking and the area is quiet. You can travel to the location by taking the Q10 bus from Kew Gardens (starts at the E/F train station) to Sutter Ave. in South Ozone Park (the Q10 also passes the J and A train along its route on Lefferts Blvd). Alternate route is the Q7 bus on Rockaway Blvd to Lincoln St/131 St, or to take the Q9 bus from either the 165th Street Bus Terminal in Jamaica, or from the subway station at Archer Avenue & Supthin Blvd (E/J train station). Get off at the corner of Rockaway Blvd and Lincoln, walk one block south to Sutter Avenue).
