Join us for a 1.5-hour introductory workshop on how to turn R analysis into an interactive web application using R Shiny. Huge thanks to our members Akshi Chaudhary and Nazli Ozum Kafaee from UBC Masters of Data Science for preparing and leading the workshop.
What is R-Shiny and why learn it?
- Shiny is an R package that makes it easy to build interactive web apps straight from R.
- These apps are a powerful tool for communicating and sharing data to your stakeholders, research community or clients.
- Need some familiarity with R, but does not require knowledge of typical web development software such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
- Would you like to learn how to create an online platform for your data to be explored interactively using RShiny? Join us!
Here are some examples of how RShiny is used:
- environmental monitoring: https://kfrost.shinyapps.io/INmetals/
- fish stock assessment app: https://gallery.shinyapps.io/lake_erie_fisheries_stock_assessment_app/
- disease monitoring: https://gallery.shinyapps.io/CDCPlot/
About the workshop & instructions:
- Please expect a hands-on session in a friendly and laid-back atmosphere where we all encouraged to learn together.
