Some Interesting R Packages

For the past year, I have been writing a monthly blog post on my picks for the most interesting new packages submitted to CRAN during the previous month. For example, have a look at June 2017 New Package Picks (https://rviews.rstudio.com/2017/07/26/june-2017-new-package-picks/). In this talk, I'll give some advice on searching CRAN for interesting new packages, discuss the criteria I use for selecting my monthly "Top 40" picks and highlight a few interesting packages.

• negotiating oauth on servers(A stumbling block for most people in the forums
• use cases with shiny
• use cases with pivots and google charts (See large dataset case (http://rpubs.com/dsdaveh/280034))

Beyond Popularity: Monetizing R Packages

This talk will cover my initial foray into monetizing an open source R package. In 2015, a year after publishing the initial version of choroplethr on CRAN, I made a concerted effort to try and monetize the package. In this workshop you will learn:

  1. Why I decided to monetize choroplethr.
  2. The monetization strategy I used.
  3. Three tactics that can help you monetize your own R package.
