Join us Friday, August 4, 2017 and soar through your morning with Oracle Ace Director, Rich Niemiec as we explore the changing horizon for Oracle Cloud and the New Features of Oracle 12c. Rich is a world renowned IT Expert and Chief Innovation Officer of Viscosity North America. After the technical sessions (presentation details below) continue networking with your peers over lunch.
Registration is required – Meeting, lunch and museum are free to RMOUG members attending the meeting. RMOUG welcomes anyone who would like to attend the meeting; for non-members attending the meeting the museum is free and lunch is available for $15.00. For family and guests having lunch the fee is $15.00 adult / $10.00 child.
After lunch walk alongside majestic former warbirds, a ¾ scale X-Wing Starfighter and a homemade helicopter, you can bring out your inner pilot with an unforgettable simulator experience too. Museum entry is free for all meeting attendees. For non-attendees, family, and friends; tickets are available for purchase at the museum box office. Ticket prices are Adults (17 – 64) – $12.50, Seniors (65+) – $9.00, Children (4 – 16) – $6.00, Children (3 and under) – free.

Session 1:
8:30am – 10:30am - " Innovation, Oracle Cloud with Apps Case Study, Big Data and the Internet of Things Preparing for the Future of IT"
This presentation will cover Oracle’s Acceleration, especially with the Oracle Cloud, and the Cycles of Innovation in the world. We'll look at a case study of an implementation of Oracle ERP Cloud Financials integrated with on premise Supply Chain Application. We’ll then look at the current Acceleration of the Cloud, the Big Data Revolution and some of the Big Data Solutions out there including Oracle’s Big Data Solution. We will review the role that both Google and Facebook have played in the Big Data Ecosystem and also how other NoSQL databases like Cassandra and MongoDB fit in. We’ll then look at the Internet of Things (IOT) which will drive Big Data and the Cloud even Faster. Lastly, we'll briefly look at what the Future will bring with 64-bit and 128-bit (robotics/implants).
Session 2:
9:50am – 10:50am - " The Best Oracle Database 12c R1 & R2 New Features"
This presentation will look at which 12c Release 1 and Release 2 new features should be investigated for use. Some of the features that will be covered will be related to the DBA, but there will also those that focus on the developer. There will be simple examples (such as a quick example using pluggable databases) to show the basic functionality of the new features:

Rich Niemiec – Chief Innovation Officer, Viscosity North America
Rich Niemiec is the current Chief Innovation Officer of Viscosity North America. Rich is an Oracle Ace Director, a world renowned IT Expert, and was a co-founder and the CEO of TUSC, a Chicago-based systems integrator of Oracle-based business solutions started in 1988. Rich has served as President of Rolta TUSC and Rolta EICT as well. Rich is the past President of the International Oracle Users Group (IOUG) and the current President of the Midwest Oracle Users Group (MOUG). Rich has architected and tuned many Fortune 500 systems over the past 25 years. His experience in data processing ranges from teaching to consulting, with emphasis in database administration, performance tuning, project management and technical education. Rich is one of six originally honored worldwide Oracle Certified Masters and advised Oracle development from time to time. In 2017, he authored the Oracle “Oracle12c Performance Tuning Tips & Techniques,” an update of his previous 4 Oracle best sellers on Oracle8i, 9i, 10g, and 11i Performance Tuning. Rich was inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 1998.
