Main group page: https://www.meetup.com/atheistsunited/
๐What to expect:
Discussion sparked by short videos about atheism, religion, science, current events, critical thinking, comedy, life hacks, health and beyond >>> followed by moderated discussions.
๐What we're about:
WELCOME to https://www.AheistsUnited.org's meetup - one of many opportunities to engage in mindful discussions, lectures, book clubs, educational forums mostly online, and our In-Person-Volunteer events like the monthly food distribution in person.
Other Atheists United links are listed below.
We are an ethically centered community for greater Los Angeles atheists.
Our mission is to build thriving atheist communities, empower people to express their secular values, and promote the separation of government and religion.
๐Meeting format:
This is a place for atheists to meet, have dinner with (eating on camera is ok), and talk to other atheists, skeptics and humanists.
A few agnostics and religious people sometimes show up as well and they are welcome as long as they are not there to proselytize.
We mandate courtesy and respect to fellow attendees, and no proselytizing. Foremost, this is a social gathering, and support group for like-minded persons, not a debate club.
If you're coming just to argue on matters of religion or politics, don't bother showing up, you're not going to convert anyone, and you will be asked to leave.
๐This is a 2 hour event, but often we go overtime when the discussion and the great atmosphere it requires; or when we can't get enough of seeing familiar faces and perhaps some new ones.
Feel free to stay as long or as short as you'd like.
๐Look out for topics posted in the discussion section and please place your own ideas, questions or concerns in the comments and please feel free to private message any of our co-organizers by clicking on their names.
Bring your unique point of view and add to the discussion.

Sunday Assembly and Potluck
1300 Ethan Way, Sacramento, CA, USSunday Assembly Sacramento is a non-religious congregation that meets once a month to share our stories, create community, and learn from our experiences. We are inclusive and everyone is valued here.
Sunday Assembly Sacramento is held in the Reason Center at 1300 Ethan Way, Suite 675 toward the back of the building. As always, families are welcome and child care is provided. The doors open at 10:30 am and the program will begin at 11:00 am.
Our Speaker, Nick Gray
Nick Gray is the Programs Director for the Water Education Foundation. He is a member of Sunday Assembly Sacramento, a board member of California Freethought Day, and a staff volunteer for Camp Omni, a secular summer camp for youths aged 8-17.
Do you know where your water comes from? Get an overview of Californiaโs hydrology, water development history and more to gain a deeper understanding of how water is managed and moved across the Golden State.
We will have a speaker, a short Doing Your Best presentation by a member, a time for members to share their Milestones, and a potluck. Please bring a dish to share unless you are a newcomer. Donuts and coffee are provided. Hope to see you there!

โขOnlineFilm and Discussion Night On Zoom
OnlineComing to your home theatre by Zoom! The Reason Center of Sacramento will host a monthly movie night where we will share movies and discuss afterward. The Reason Center has an MPLC License (https://www.mplc.org/page/the-umbrella-license), which allows us to legally show copyrighted films and TV programs in public spaces as long as we follow a couple of simple rules:
- We can't make any money from showing these films - no problem, we would dream of charging admission!
- We can't publish movie titles on public platforms like meetup.
So, to abide by that second rule, we'll tell you generally that the movie will may be some historical piece or biopic focused on the heroes of the humanistic and secular movement. Or we may show movies that spotlight religious themes. Or we may occasionally enjoy some fun comedy or cartoon. In any case, we will conclude with a good discussion of the content, afterward.
We will discuss future films to show at the end of each event, or if you see us in real life or a Zoom meeting, we'll be happy to tell you what movie we plan to show next. So stay tuned!2 attendees
