Resume Workshop Online + Free 1-1 Resume Critiques: Stand Out, Get Interviews

Details

Yikes! The increased number of applicants looking for jobs means more competition. This is bad enough for job changers, but is further compounded by the increasing use of digital scanning of resumes that eliminates 75 to 80% of all resumes submitted online. You will find that standing out will reward you with more interviews. This typically means a resume that reads faster and is easier to understood. We will examine visual resume presentations and ways to engage your reader that pull their eyes to the strongest points you offer in making your claim on a position you want. We will also discuss strategies and tips that will increase your likelihood of passing through the digital screening.

Let's inspire and strengthen each other with our insights. We'll use Zoom for our Mini-Workshop. After our group circle, we will schedule one-on-one meetings at convenient later times for free individual resume critiques to be conducted by the leader using Zoom or phone. These follow-up critiques are free for up to five participants.

You may RSVP through meetup.com before 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, and I will send you the Zoom link. You may also wish to email your resume to share it with the group. For sending your resume please use my email at marilyn@deltastrategies.com. For any problems you may also reach me at 510-590-0110, or you may find my contact information on LinkedIn (Marilyn Tullius). My contact information is also on the Contact tab of my website at deltastrategies.

Here's the schedule:
5:00 -- Check in and introductions using Zoom. Also, sharing info about scheduling your 1-1 resume critique (available for up to five attendees)
5:20 -- Workshop discussion with examples on slides
6:00-ish -- End Zoom session, but continue with any Q&A for a bit

The themes that drive resume effectiveness and the critiques include showing your strengths, problems you can solve, and your potential to add value. The expertise I share will emphasize bringing your capabilities to life by including challenges you have met and accomplishments that have met goals. We will discuss attendees’ hold-backs and needs. Attendees typically raise questions about handling work gaps and transitioning to a new industry, new level, new job function, new degree/certification, and more.
