Rochester's Python Users Group
RocPy is Rochester's local (and only!) Python user group. We exist to give others the opportunity to work and play with local Python developers, learners, employers, and enthusiasts. All skill levels are welcome, if you are interested in Python, join us!
- Monthly presentation series: these are 45-60 minutes presentations on topics of interest to the Python community.
- We welcome 5-10 minute lightning talks.
- If there is an interest in workshops we would love to help coordinate them.
- See a selection of previous meetings on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@rocpy4
In the spirit of community we adhere to the Python Software Foundation Code of Conduct and further express our values in our own code of conduct.

Intro to Claude Code, a Demonstration and Explanation
Wegmans Hall at U of R, 250 Hutchison Rd, Rochester, NY, USJosh will present a demonstration and explanation (as best he can) of Claude Code and how to think about integrating it into your workflow.
Claude Code is a command-line tool from Anthropic that can read your codebase, run your tests, and make changes to your files autonomously. In this talk we’ll walk through what it actually does, how to set it up, and where it fits into a normal development workflow. We’ll cover several live demos using real code — including refactoring a script into a package, generating a pytest suite from scratch, and tracking down a bug from a traceback. We’ll also talk honestly about where it works well and where it doesn’t.
