What we're about

We hold a poetry slam the first Saturday of every month at Casa del Sol in Nyack, NY from 630 PM to 9 PM. A poetry slam is a performance poetry competition judged by arbitrarily-selected audience members. Where traditional poetry readings are about supporting the poet, poetry slams focus on the interaction between audience and poet. Strong writing and strong delivery are both important. Whether you want to come out and participate by performing or by spectating, you are welcome. Our slam has been in operation since December 2011.

We also host a poetry open mic the third Saturday of every month at the Suffern Village Hall in Suffern, NY. That series has been taking place at various venues since March of 2011.

Poets Process Jam

Online event

Welcome to the Poets' Process Jam! We are here to develop ourselves, our community, and to meet the challenges of performance, publishing, and self-set goals. This group meets for one hour. This meeting is for anyone who will benefit from a timeblock dedicated to editing, organizing, and submitting their craft.

The Jam will be conducted in two rooms. Everyone can pick their room. One will be a social jam. The second will be run in a 'Shut up and Write' format. In that room we'll go around, say what we're working on, and what we'd like to accomplish today, and get to it.

Guidelines:

Share opportunities that aren’t right for you.

Keep a single place for your verse, and type up your best.

Create a way to review your work from this month, and as a collection.

Integrate any strong new work.

Bring us your good news!
