St Francis Vintage Motorcycle Museum

St Francis Vintage Motorcycle Museum

Details

About:

The St. Francis Motorcycle Museum is a NON-PROFIT organization that will house Vintage and antique motorcycles of all makes and vintages. It has been built with nearly $400,00 in donations from this small Kansas community. When the collection all arrives they will have about 100 bikes and each one is valued at more than $100,000. The museum will be manned by volunteers and should be open by April.

Proposed Day-Ride: April 24th-Day Ride out and back

This should be an OK ride to plan for the early spring as it goes across the eastern plains. The shortest route to St Francis is 180 miles from Sam's restaurant 2580 S Havana. Leaving at 8:00 AM we take I-70 to Byers, then Highway 36 to St Francis. We should arrive at 11:30. It is imperative for all bikes to fuel up in Byers, CO as it is approximately 140 miles to St Francis and the nearest gas station. Once in St Francis, we can spend approximately one and a half hours touring the Motorcycle Museum followed by a lunch at Captain Hook's just 5 miles down the road on the way to Goodland, KS. After fueling the bikes, it is a long, boring ride home. I propose we take I-70, picking it up in Goodland, KS, which is about 30 miles to the south and a little east of St Francis. From I-70 there are several rest stops and small towns for gas with a leisurely three and a half hour ride home. If the weather is a nice spring day, it could be an enjoyable day and a great way to get the bikes ready for more adventurous trips.
