Details

Please note: There are entry fees required. Check here for more information: https://www.srfestival.com/ticket-information/

Depending on the spread of Covid there could be mask mandates as well, check the festival's site information.

If you are not a member of our Facebook Group, you can join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/rowlettphotoclub

We will meet at furthest northwest parking corner of the Dart station parking at 10:00 am and depart promptly at 10:05. Those comfortable with car sharing should work out the details prior to 10:00 am.

The parking corner is on the corner of Industrial Street and Martin Drive.

The distance is too great to ensure caravanning the complete trip, so each car should plan on having directions to the festival in case cars are separated.

11:15 We will meet inside of the ticketing booths far enough to not block traffic, but close enough to be seen from any ticket booth. We will plan on starting the walk at 11:15 at this point.

Itinerary - you can walk / mingle with the group or do your own thing. If you have suggestions for the group, please post the time and place as a comment to this meetup (not on Facebook).

11:15 - 1:00 Photographing...people, places, and things. There is a friendly competitive shot list for those interested. The shot list is at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oCZ933J-ZCdmwLAYgf36z4Fzxo4agopnEA32s6p8mZk/edit?usp=sharing.
Share your photographs from the shot list with the appropriate hashtag of #people, #places, #things.

1:00 - 2:00 Lunch. If you have dietary restrictions you should research before going.

2:00 Head back or participate in the flash tutorials or do your own thing

Optional: For those interested, starting at 2:00 Michael Presley and I will do one camera, one lens, one flash tutorials. Hopefully visitors and participants in the festival for some portraiture with flash. Bring your bail money.

If you are going to participate in the one camera, one lens, one flash, please let us know as a comment to this meetup (not in Facebook) below.

NOTE: If you are participating in the one camera, one lens, one flash fun Here are some thoughts: A standard size hotshoe flash, something like the Godox TT685, Nikon SB-700, or whatever Canon has along with a small modifier is like a flash disc will be what I plan to use. I'll also have my Godox controller for handheld off camera flash work, Strobist style. Another thing to bring if you have one is a ND4 neutral density filter. These decrease the exposure the camera sees by 2 stops. This allows you to open up the lens aperture and still keep you shutter speed at the sync speed instead of getting into the high speed sync modes. We'll talk about all of that and more if you join us! ~Mike
