For May, let's stick close to home and visit Crowley Park in Richardson for wildflowers and nature - we last visited in May of 2020 during our first in person gathering after the world shut down. The park is just teeming with beautiful wildflowers as the City of Richardson goes all out to ensure wildflowers are everywhere! The address of Crowley Park is 2700 N. Spring Drive, but the parking lot is actually located on Lookout Drive. Putting the address into Google maps directed me to the parking lot.
If you want to carpool or caravan from Rowlett, meet at the Rowlett DART Station parking area by Martin and Industrial at 10:00 am. If you want to meet at Crowley Park, plan to meet at about 10:15-10:20 timeframe. Let's meet at the parking lot, then we can fan out to where we want to walk.
We can shoot in the park for about an hour to hour and a half, then meet back up near the parking lot and head to lunch at about 11:30-11:45 timeframe.
For lunch, let's go to Wildwood Cafe Cityline at 1417 E. Renner Rd, Suite 300. It's on the same row as Whole Foods. I've eaten at Wildwood Cafe Firewheel several times and it's always outstanding!
A regular walkabout lens is fine, although you might want to bring a long lens for any birds, ducks, turtles you want to look for or a macro or specialty lens for the wildflowers.
Since this walk is local, it won't be as long as most; and after lunch, people can decide if they want to find some other nature areas to go explore as there are several great parks in the vicinity.
Now, for some requests and warnings:
1. Weather is always a factor so there is always the possibility of a last minute cancellation!
2. Please don't sign up unless you intend to go, and, if you find you aren't able to go after signing up, please change your RSVP so we aren't waiting for you.
3. Please sign up if you are going so that we know to expect and wait for you.
4. Please comment whether you will meet in Rowlett or at Crowley Park so we know where to look for you.
5. Please comment as to whether you need a ride or can provide a ride so we can try and accommodate everyone, although since this is local many may want to just drive themselves.
6. Please have the Meetup app on your phone as that is where any communications will be posted during the walk to alert everyone of any changes, notifications, or updates, or you can alert everyone if you are running late, ask where to find us, let us know where you are, etc.
