A Boring Ride (Springwater Corridor/Boring)

Springwater Corridor/Boring

This is a weekly ride that I'm starting, something to do in the fall to at least get out riding.

A nice little route that can be done in less than two hours. Starting at the East Portland Community Center, we head south to the Springwater Corridor and then head east. We will head south on 190th and then through some lovely farm country until we wind up almost in Boring. We then take the Springwater Corridor back to where we got on, and retrace our route back to the EPCC.

I like doing this route instead of just the Springwater Corridor out & back because of the additional climbing (a bit less than 1300 feet).

NOTE: Bear in mind that the Springwater Corridor is a MUP (Multi-Use Path) and there may be pedestrians, joggers, horses, and squirrels that look suspiciously like kids on training wheels (but trust me, they're really squirrels). This ride is early enough in the day that it shouldn't be crowded, but you always need to be aware of who & what you're coming up on. Riding single-file is suggested, use caution when passing.

As sunrise gets later and later, we'll probably need to start out with lights on. A rear blinky is strongly recommended, a front light less so.

Weather Cancellation Policy: We're riding rain or shine. This is Oregon, get some raingear and HTFU. But I will wuss out if there is ice on the road.

If there are no RSVPs by noon the day before the ride I reserve the right to change my mind and ride a different route at a different time. What this means is that if you don't RSVP and show up anyway, I may or may not be there.

I don't have internet at home so I can only check email and RSVPs at the library/coffee shop so it's difficult for me to find out about last-minute changes. Everyone is welcome to call me, the above number is my cell so don't worry about calling. The cutoff date/time is noon on Friday, not midnight, but I'll do better about posting cancellations in the future.

Mandatory for all riders:

- Helmets MUST be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request.

- Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Represent us well!

- Have their ride in good working order and bring a flat kit & the right size spare tube on all rides. If there is an issue with proper working or lack of equipment you may be asked to sit the ride out.

- Please ask for help if you are ill equipped prior to the ride, we will help if we can!
