SPC Journey: From Theory to Practice with Phil Gardiner and Travis Moorer

Join SPCT Phil Gardiner & SPCT Candidate Travis Moorer from Applied Frameworks at 11 AM Mountain time on August 18, 2022, as the next installment of the SPC Journey series, free webinars designed to empower SPCs and change agents as they learn, grow, and serve.

We will share some of the “ah-ha” and “uh-oh” moments one might encounter when implementing SAFe as a new SPC or change agent.

As Travis says, “some things are taught, and some things are caught," and we want to help you learn from our experience as we learn from yours through a Q&A discussion.

Explore topics including:

  • PI Planning: beyond the simulation
  • The ART Readiness checklist is more than a checklist
  • Alignment as a leading indicator
  • Features are not requirements
  • WSJF is collaborative

Don't forget to bring your questions! This is an interactive session!

Agile Hartford: SAFe the 2nd Time Around (remote with SPCT Phil Gardiner)

Join Agile Hartford as we welcome SAFe SPCT Phil Gardiner.

## About this event

Presentation Description:
The Scaled Agile Framework, commonly known as "SAFe," can lead to amazing outcomes that inspire and engage teams, delight customers, and allow enterprises to achieve their strategic objectives. However, just because it can, does not mean it will.

Like any change involving human beings, factors such as understanding, motivation, assumptions, capabilities, expectations, etc. can lead to unexpected outcomes. Let's explore some pitfalls that could occur and learn ways to recover when you implement SAFe the second time.

o SAFe as the outcome, not the vehicle to get you there
o Ignoring the principles in pursuit of the practices
o Scaling when you have Agile/Scrum in name only
o Misunderstanding the SPC certification
o Falling into the "SAFe says" trap.

Tonight's Presenter: Phil Gardiner
Phil Gardiner, SPCT, leads the SAFe Practice for Applied Frameworks, where he serves as an Executive Consultant, enabling enterprises to accelerate the delivery of products and services through Lean-Agile ways of working. Phil has a passion for deep, sustainable change. This has led him to become a thought leader in the Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) space while also developing an outcome-based approach that meets his customers where they are while cultivating the capabilities of their leaders, changes agents, and SPCs. On his journey, Phil has worked with dozens of enterprises and agencies, from Fortune 10 corporations to the US Department of Defense.
