Spiritual Laws that Help us Have Better Relationships- Informal Lunch Discussion
There exist wonderful truths - spiritual laws that nourish all of us. These are laws of wisdom, freedom, and charity, or divine love. • What are these laws? • How can we shape our lives and destiny to live in harmony with them? • What happens if we inadvertently break them? • Which of the Spiritual Laws can help us specifically with managing and improving our relationships? You are invited to join us for this informal spiritual discussion, sponsored by Eckankar and open to all, of the spiritual laws of life, which help us meet the challenges of life in a more relaxed and happy way and give us resources to make the best decision at any moment. The discussions are based on the book, The Spiritual Laws of Life, by Harold Klemp, available on or at the Eckankar online bookstore, It’s OK to join the discussion without having the book! We will discuss several spiritual laws at each meeting and you will have the chance to practice spiritual exercises related to these laws. The discussion takes place on the third Wednesday of each month from 12-1 pm. From December 2018 through February 2019 we will discuss a number of Spiritual Laws that help us have better relationships: December 19: Law of Noninterference: Soul’s responsibility not to interfere in the affairs of another Soul, but to allow others their freedom. Impatience and offering uninvited advice are often symptoms (p. 179). Maybury’s Two Laws: (1) Do all you have agreed to do; and (2) Do not encroach upon other persons or their property (p. 177). Law of Detachment: Giving up strong affection for the environment and possessions, but not ceasing to identify with them; becoming independent of them; mentally free from love of the world and all worldly desires (p. 83). January 16: Law of Karma: The Law of Cause and Effect, action and reaction, justice, retribution, and reward, which applies to the lower or psychic worlds: the Physical, Astral, Causal, Mental, and Etheric Planes; inflow and outflow (p. 101). Law of Gratitude: Abundance flourishes in a grateful heart; gratitude is the secret of love (p. 165). Law of Reversed Effort: The functioning of the imagination by negation which draws into the external that which one is trying to avoid (p. 133). February 20: Law of Love: The principle which gives thought the dynamic power to correlate with its object, and, therefore, to master every adverse human experience; feeling that imparts vitality to thought feeling is desire, and desire is love (p. 167). Law of Discrimination: The recognition that there is no good nor evil, nor beauty nor beauty nor ugliness, no sin, and that these are concepts of the mind, the dual forces in the matter worlds; the ability to make right judgments; to distinguish between those actions which contribute to spiritual growth and those which are a waste of time (p. 87). Law of Attitudes: The fifth law of the physical universe, or the Law of the States of Being; the power of imagination rules over will in the actions in this universe (p. 67).
