Groovy is an agile, dynamic language for the Java platform that combines smooth Java integration with the benefits of Java performance. Getting started with Groovy can be overwhelming. Groovy is changing the entire landscape in our field and investing the time to learn it is not an option. Understanding Groovy is required to stay relevant.

EPM Cloud Planning (formally PBCS and EPBCS) is built with the Groovy framework and is embedded in everything we will do going forward. It opens up a whole new world of opportunities and facilitates the way we can positively impact our planner’s experience and productivity.

Kyle Goodfriend, the Vice President of the Oracle practice at Accelytics, is strongly connected to the product team at Oracle, and the first to go live with a Groovy enabled application. He has been recommended by Oracle to help many Fortune 500 companies and continues to be a leader in the Groovy movement.

Kyle is building classes for our community to grow their skills and understand Groovy by offering an introduction with a hands-on workshop.

• The hands-on workshop is designed mainly for Admin / End User. Therefore, Oracle customers and product users are encouraged to participate.

What Will Be Covered:

• What is Groovy

• Understanding Groovy and the Planning API

• How to read the Java Docs

• Minimize scripting using inheritance

• Interacting with run time prompts

• Validate user input

• Changing forms on load

• Interacting with metadata

• Optimizing Essbase calculations

• Optimizing Data Maps

The workshop will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 PM followed by a Happy Hour (sponsored by Oracle) from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Kyle has six of the 10 modules completed and will have all modules (except the modules focusing on the grid builder) ready prior to the class workshop. This class will be followed up by two more classes: Using the REST API in Groovy Calculations for EPM Cloud Planning and Advanced Groovy for EPM Cloud Planning.
