UPDATE (7/15/14): I wanted to provide an update for this excursion since it's right around the corner. Because there are no rivers in the Bay Area, it goes without saying that coordination is important. The best way to communicate is to read the comments below and join the GROUPME chat (link below).
If you're able/willing to drive please say so. I know many people that have RSVPd for this are from different parts of the Bay so if you're looking for a ride you'll surely find one.
From my cursory look at the comments, it seems that the following people are offering rides:
SF - Cat, Naveen
SJ/Campbell - Sean
Oakland - Steven
I'm sure as the days get closer there'll be more activity in this thread and the GROUPME for ride coordination.
HYPE: The first lazy river rafting excursion was extremely fun and hugely successful, so here are the details for the second rafting trip of the summer. Hopefully even more people can make this one. Feel free to bring any friends who enjoy lounging peacefully in the sun for a few hours and sharing drinks and food. You can bring drinks and food if you like (there's a supermarket a block away from the launch point where we normally stop and stock up before launching); everyone shared food on the first trip and it was a great time.
Once we get an idea of turnout it'll be easier to organize rides up. The drive is approximately 1 hour 45 min.
Here is the agenda for the day:
8:30AM - Head for Sacramento/Rancho Cordova
11:00AM - Meet at the river start point and get in the river/chill/music/dance
4:00PM - Get out of the river
7:00PM - Get back home
If you haven't gone lazy rafting on the American River before, it's about a 4-5 hour float from the launch point to the take-out point. Along the way, there are plenty of places to make pit stops, jump off small cliffs, do rope swings, hunt for crawfish, and on busy days there is a mud wrestling spot too. We will be playing lots of music as we go down the river. Feel free to bring a raft if you own one. Otherwise please bring like $20 to split costs for raft rentals. And of course, bring any drinks or food you want to eat along the way. You may also want to bring a T-shirt on the trip down incase the sun hides at some point (we designate a clothes bag so nothing gets wet - yeah, we're ultra prepared and ballers).
Note that this is the day after Dash Berlin plays at Craneway Pavilion (RSVP here (https://www.meetup.com/SF-EDM/events/191854952/)!) so it's a great way to unwind and relax after a night of intense raging.
Feel free to post any questions below.
