Talk 1 – From Diophantus to Satoshi: Elliptic Curves and Where to Find Them
We begin with a crash course in the history of elliptic curves, what they are, and why we care about them. After that, we will look into more recent objects such as Merkle trees and zero-knowledge proofs and, time permitting, we will see how they all fit together.

About the Speaker
Mahrud Sayrafi is a mathematics PhD student interested in algebraic geometry and it's applications beyond math. Before that, Mahrud worked on cryptography at ProtonMail and Cloudflare.

Talk 2 - Celer Network

Celer Network is an off-chain scaling solution for blockchains. Unlike some other more specialized blockchain scaling technologies, Celer has a grander vision, and is building a complete framework for off-chain scaling, with generalized state channels (cChannel), value transfer routing (cRoute), an SDK for off-chain applications to handle the operation, storage, tracking and dispute of off-chain states (cOS), and a cryptoeconomic model to incentivize an abundant and stable liquidity pool and also state availability services for the off-chain operating network.

About the Speaker
Dr. Mo Dong, co-founder of Celer, will be giving the presentation. Before founding Celer, Mo was a founding employee and engineering team lead at Veriflow, where he led an all-PhD team that worked on network formal verification algorithm design and distributed systems infrastructure.
