This will be the first of 3 guided sketching tours we'll be doing with Wendy MacNaughton around the release of her new book: Meanwhile In San Francisco, the City in its Own Words (http://www.amazon.com/Meanwhile-San-Francisco-City-Words/dp/1452113890).

Here's what she says about the book:

"after three years of work, my new (and first solo) book "Meanwhile in San Francisco, The City in its Own Words" (http://d1ej5r2t2cu524.cloudfront.net/wendymacnaughton/infrequent-yet-significant-news-from-your-friend-wendy/916741-www.amazon.com/meanwhile-san-francisco-city-words/dp/1452113890?c=7f4e05d9-e8a4-4b17-8ef8-78e46fb3aee4) is coming out on MARCH 18 from the fine folk at chronicle books (check out the cover below). it’s a collection of stories (or illustrated documentaries, i like to call them) about seventeen unique and unsung communities in san francisco, like the Dolphin Club, 6th Street, Chinatown’s mahjong houses, and the bison of Golden Gate Park. you might have seen a few of them before on the rumpus (http://d1ej5r2t2cu524.cloudfront.net/wendymacnaughton/infrequent-yet-significant-news-from-your-friend-wendy/916745-therumpus.net/2011/05/meanwhile-the-san-francisco-public-library/?c=7f4e05d9-e8a4-4b17-8ef8-78e46fb3aee4). the stories are told through my drawings and the words of the community members themselves. Meanwhile in San Francisco celebrates what it means to be part of a vibrant, diverse city, which seems especially important to think about these days."
