Guest Post: Create Landscape Vignettes with Uma Kelkar, Apple Store Live Art
Details
REMEMBER TO SIGN UP FOR THIS EVENT WITH APPLE. (See link below.) Cost is free but registration is required. If you don't have an iPad Apple will loan you one.
When traveling, or in the rush of modern life, it is hard to draw and then color the beautiful scenes we come across. We'll try to shorten this time from inspiration to capturing 'just enough' of a scene in the Procreate app. Uma will lead you on a painterly approach to conquering landscape scenes with emphasis on value-based shapes instead of object-based shapes. These paintings can put the viewer at a location without fussing over exactness of drawing. Bring photographs from your travels to sketch from in the Apple store.
This event is free, but you must sign up for this event on the Apple website—An RSVP on this meetup page doesn't count. Sign up at https://www.apple.com/today/event/live-art-uma-kelkar-6413474463870259053/?&cid=WWA-us-SHR-TAA_T
BRING
If you have an iPad and Apple Pencil, bring it and install the Procreate app. The Apple store will loan you an iPad and Pencil if you don't have one.
GETTING THERE
Transit: It's a short walk from Powell or Montgomery BART/MUNI stations. Most of the buses in the city pass through this area along Market Street, Geary, Post or Stockton.
Bike: There are good bike lanes along Market.
Car: There is paid parking under Union Square but the construction on Stockton Street can make it hard to get in and out. However the Sutter Stockton garage to the north and the 5th & Mission garage to the south are relatively accessible and inexpensive.
Note that this is a Guest Post: not an official SF Sketchers meetup, but a sketching-related event put on by another group that looks like fun.
