SF Babel: San Francisco's International Language Exchange Meetup

We try to provide a fun, friendly, relaxed group where you can practice speaking a new language and meet people from all over the world!

Our gathering takes place in a bar environment, so there is usually music playing and we hope to have a lot of people so it will be busy and bustling. This is obviously still a fairly new meet up, so invite lots of friends and just come hang out and practice another language!

All SF Babel Members get discounted draft beer! All you have to do is present your name tag (which you will receive at the event)

The idea of the group is that you give help to the group (helping those who are learning your native language) and you get help from the group (you are helped by others who speak the language you want to practice). This way everyone benefits!

We typically have native speakers of French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, German, Polish, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Mandarin, Russian, Armenian, Arabic and many other languages.

When you arrive, just introduce yourself to Marcus and Matt and they will introduce you to others who speak the language you want to practice to get you started. It's fun and FREE!

We get started at 7:00 pm and the group is usually there until at least 10pm, but you can arrive and leave at whatever time you like.

If you have any comments, questions, problems, concerns or ideas, just talk to Marcus or Matt about it. We will do our best to make sure you have a positive experience!

Remember, this group is a hobby for us; we run it just for fun, we love it and we hope you will love it too!

Somewhat welcoming. I had to approach people a lot more than they approached me but I'm used to it. I'm social enough!

    Hey Everyone,
As a reminder, look for the group with the nametags near the bar. I'll have enough nametags for everyone and then have fun!

does everyone coming need to be a member of this meetup group and also have rsvp'd in order to attend?

No Way! Many people come from their language schools like Embassy or EC.
They find us through some print advertising we've created and distributed.
Of course, joining the meetup is great cause it helps keep in the loop -- but it isn't necessary.

We will be on the 2nd floor near the bar! As normal.
It was fun on the third floor, but I think I like the 2nd floor better. What did you guys think?
