Upgrading to Drupal 8 with Ease
One click upgrade to Drupal 8 - how, why and when This year Drupal turns 17. For more than a decade, upgrading from one version of Drupal to another was a fairly major undertaking. Now, Drupal 8 has drastically improved the ease of upgrading, making the process a pleasant surprise! Looks like Drupal is getting out those teenage years and becoming a more mature entity. By the end of this session, you’ll know how to complete a content upgrade for your Drupal 7 or 6 website. We’ll demo the migration process step by step, including:
- Starting with an out of the box vanilla Drupal 8 site
- Connecting to the existing website that you’d like to upgrade
- The modules you’ll need for Drupal 8
- Blocks, Theme, and Views migrations
- Options available for moving content from other systems: Feeds (finally ready for Drupal 8), Migrate Plus and other plugins.
We will also discuss when the time is right to upgrade your site when you should migrate, and variations/combinations between the two.
Session Takeaway: How and when to upgrade your website to Drupal 8
Audience: This session is designed for site builders, content managers and strategists who are planning overall site development.
