The ascent for this hike will be up long steep ridgelines, with many false summits. This is an extremely strenuous, often brushy, hike.
Eventually we shall find ourselves on Clamshell Peak. From there, we'll descend to yet another Clamshell Road (this time the Upper Road) and ascend first charming Rankin Peak, then Monrovia Peak.
We will mostly be on dirt fire roads for descent, although we may use the Overturff Trail for variety.
Bring: 4-6 quarts water/gatorade or more. headlamp. long pants recommended due to brush. sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses).
Stats: 5500' gain, 17 miles.
