Simulating a Java/Forth Virtual Machine --- C.H. Ting
I have a JVM/FVM synthesized on Quartus II IDE. I do not have a FPGA kit to test or verify it. I need a soft UART to test the outer interpreter. I use a Terminal Input Buffer and a Terminal Output Buffer in the main memory. The soft UART runs at the speed of the master clock for ease of simulation.”
ForthBox Update --- Samuel A. Falvo II (45 minutes)
“Work on the Kestrel-1 redesign continues, albeit slowly. Since I last gave an update:
- development emulator is working,
- subroutine-threaded Forth-subset cross-compiler seems to be working [untested as I write this].
I can give brief demos of each.”
=====
Intro CoSy via Zooms Starting --- Bob Armstrong
"As detailed in Sunday's CoSy blogPost , I'm starting intro lessons in CoSy. It's not a toy .
Also : A few comments on Big Rationals."
=====
11:30 ---- A Forth Challenge for December --- Host Bill Ragsdale
"Compute (approximately) 100! (100 factorial) using Forth's integer math. Use your favorite method and check with floating point math, if available.
For extra credit, compute 100! exactly. For even more credit, how do you calculate the number of trailing zeros?"

Plus any ‘walk-ins’.

If there's time, we will brainstorm ideas to suggest to Bill Ragsdale for future Programming Challenges!
